about us

BreathWalk®

is a gentle yet profoundly effective practice rooted in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga. It weaves together mindful, unhurried walking with rhythmic conscious breathing and meditative exercises in the open air — bringing body, breath, and awareness into harmonious motion.
The technique is beautifully simple. Yet its effects run remarkably deep. Each BreathWalk unfolds across five distinct phases and is oriented toward a clearly defined intention — one walk, for instance, systematically builds and elevates energy, while another gently transforms anxiety into relaxed calmness.

ABOUT BreathWalk®

The combination of yoga, meditation, and walking is a wonderful present to body and soul.

Plus icon
Heart & Circulation

BreathWalk promotes cardiovascular health by improving circulation, enhancing oxygen delivery, and supporting cardiac function.

Plus icon
Metabolism & Glandular System

The rhythmic combination of movement and breath activates metabolic processes and stimulates the endocrine system.

Plus icon
Back Muscles

Targeted muscular engagement strengthens the posterior musculature, improving spinal stability and refining biomechanical gait patterns.

Plus icon
Concentration & Focus

BreathWalk increases cerebral oxygenation, thereby enhancing cognitive performance, concentration, and visual acuity.

Plus icon
Breath & Mood

Conscious breathing expands respiratory capacity and triggers neurochemical responses that elevate mood and emotional resilience.

Plus icon
Harmony & Connectedness

BreathWalk supports the regeneration of the nervous system, fostering a state of psychophysiological balance and a deepened sense of inner connectedness.

The fusion of yoga, walking, and synchronised breathing was first developed in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, in collaboration with American psychologist Dr. Gurucharan Singh Khalsa. Grounded in millennia of yogic knowledge, BreathWalk draws from a rich tapestry of spiritual traditions — yet remains entirely non-denominational and universally accessible.
Today, BreathWalk is a globally expanding practice, embraced by individuals, wellness organisations, and corporations alike seeking evidence-informed approaches to physical and mental wellbeing.

Hanka Sat Want Kaur

I am Hanka Satwant Kaur — the person who brought BreathWalk® to Europe.
For over 25 years, I have accompanied individuals on their personal
journeys and dedicated myself to advancing this transformative practice
across the continent. Through my book BreathWalk®: Step by Step, I
created a practical resource designed to make the method accessible to
everyone. I founded the BreathWalk® School in Europe, trained teachers,
and led numerous workshops — bringing the profound effects of
BreathWalk® to an ever-growing community.
My deep fascination with the interconnection of body, mind, and energy
set me on an intensive path of study from an early age. At 21, I
traveled to India and New Mexico to study directly with Yogi Bhajan for
several years. Over the following fifteen years, I continued to deepen
my knowledge through the teachings of Guru Dev Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., Sat
Nam Rasayan, advanced studies with GuruCharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., and
the therapeutic work of Bert Hellinger.
Through these formative experiences, I came to recognize the
extraordinary potential of meditation, mindfulness, movement, and
conscious breath. BreathWalk® became a deeply transformative practice
for me — and has since become so for many others.
Today, I accompany people on their individual paths of healing and
growth. My work integrates personal experience, decades of practice, and
rigorous professional training. I offer BreathWalk® teacher training
programs, meditation courses, workshops, retreats, individual coaching,
and corporate health management programs.

BreathWalk® Breathing Your Way to a Revitalized Body, Mind and Spirit

Gurucharan Singh Khalsa Ph.D. & Yogi Bhajan Ph.D. · Foreword by Herbert Benson

Breathing and walking are two of our most elemental activities — and two of our most powerful. Brought together in a systematic and meditative way, they become a transformative force for physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Through a series of accessible, purposefully structured exercises, BreathWalk teaches us how to alleviate exhaustion, anxiety, and sadness; how to resolve conflict on physical, mental, and spiritual levels; and how to enter a state of total fitness within our own bodies and minds.
Two of the world’s leading experts in meditation and Kundalini Yoga reveal, for the first time, the full power and flexibility of this technique — uniting centuries-old tradition with modern scientific research in an effective, enjoyable, and holistic approach to movement and health.
A practical, deeply insightful guide — a breath of fresh air that has the potential to change your life with every step you take.
